The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
